Top 5 (Surprisingly) Good Games for Couples

Game_Title.jpg

Video games is one of this era’s favourite past times. Whether you’re playing by yourself or with friends – there’s tons of games and gaming consoles to choose from. Some you may find more enjoyable than others, or teasingly bicker with your friends about which is the best. For me, personally, I’m an XBox person. However I do dabble in PC gaming.

For my boyfriend and me, video games are a fun way to relax and have couple time. Although finding games that we both like is difficult. Though I suppose it’s the same when it comes to restaurants and movies for other couples.  Over our year and some months together, Thomas (my boyfriend) and I have played a lot of games. He got me more into gaming then ever! – Since he gave me his old XBox when he got his One S.

While not all of the games that the two of us have played together are good for couples. I have found that there are quite a few (surprising) ones that are! I thought I would share those with you today! Whether you’re a gaming person, or your significant other is, I suggest giving these games a go!

1. BattleBlock Theater (XBox)

Battleblock_Theater

BattleBlock Theater was one of the first games Thomas and I ever played together! It’s a cute, hilarious platforming RPG with lots of quirks and puzzles. You can customize your character to be all sorts of shapes and sizes with lots of cool powers! We usually enjoy blowing each other up, and shoving the other off of cliffs!

I would also suggest giving Pit People and Castle Crashers a play! They’re by the same guys who made BattleBlock!

2. Snipper Clips (Nintendo Switch)

Snipper_Clips

Snipper Clips is a game that came out with the Nintendo Switch. It’s an adorably frustrating puzzle game. As little bits of paper, you must snip each other into the correct shape to finish the level. But don’t be deceived, it’s not as easy as it looks!

3. Super Bomberman R (Nintendo Switch)

Bomberman

Super Bomberman R is another game that came out with the Switch. It’s a newer incarnation of the Bomberman games. In this, you’re saving the solar system from disaster! It may not seem like a couple-ly game, but – trust me – it makes alone time interesting! Between stealing power-ups, and blasting each other off the map – it’s loads of fun!

4. Diablo III (XBox)

Diablo

Diablo III is probably the most bizarre one on the list. But I cannot express the fun Thomas and I had playing this together! Looking up the best builds, leveling up characters, collecting pets, upgrading armor, and hunting down treasure goblins! This game is loads of fun, and definitely worth giving a looksy next time you’re wanting to play something together!

5. Moon Hunters (XBox)

Moon_Hunters

Moon Hunters is a game that Thomas and I stumbled onto accidentally. I was wondering what it was, he took a liking to it before I did. In the game, your choices change your ending as you fill the night sky with constellations. It’s so cool! There’s so much to do and explore! Any fans of the Yawhg will love Moon Hunters!

Although Thomas and I have problems agreeing on games at times, his handful are the ones that have stuck with me! Maybe some of my picks were a little bizarre, but these are the games that I’ve found to be the most fun playing alongside your partner! And maybe you’ve played the ones I’ve listed, but don’t find them enjoyable. – That’s okay! There’s loads of fun games out there for everyone!

What do you like to do during bonding time with your significant other?

Life Update: Writing from the Heart

I hate that I haven’t really gotten a chance to write lately. Up until recently, I never missed an upload. But I guess that was summer, when I had free time. Now I have an inbox full of blogging newsletters and email courses that have gone unread. I have a website – which was supposed to be the big leap! – that doesn’t work half the time. I have an Etsy filled with listings that need to be renewed. And pages of ideas that need to be fleshed out.

I want nothing more than to work, and charge forward with my blog. But, to do that, I think I need – for my own sake and peace of mind – to cut back to writing a post once a week. Quality over quantity right? I will admit, my posts have been slacking sufficiently, and I don’t want them to! While videos, I think I might do them every other week.

I feel like I have no time to do anything. I know I do, but I don’t use that time well enough. And now I have school projects to work on and work along with that. So it’s going to be a lot of squeezing stuff where I can. I dislike having to do that, but I’m pretty booked.

I want to give you guys better, more well thought out content. As well as give myself a little break. I love writing for you all, and I love reading what you have to say! The blogging community has such diverse people. And I love being a part of that culture! But, for now at least, I think I need to take a step back. At least until I have more free time. I’m so great to have had everyone’s support so far. And I hope that you all continue to stick around in the future!

I don’t really want to break the schedule I’ve had. But I guess it’s just one of those things. I’m hoping to make my posts even better in the time off. And I’m hoping to give you cool videos! I wouldn’t be doing any of this without you guys! So thank you all so much, I hope you have an amazing day!

See You Next Friday!

August 2017 Recap!

August_2017_Title.jpg

I’m not quite sure where August went – I guess the same place as July. Just the last fleeting months of summer. The last couple weeks of freedom before you’re snagged in another school year. Before the cool breezes start to set in, the leaves changing, letting you know that the cold season is on its way.

August has definitely been a quieter month. Not much has gone on. Although there was big things that happened!

In the beginning of the month,I went to an All Time Low concert with my friend in Baltimore. It was amazing!! All of the opening acts were also really awesome! I’d never been to an ATL concert before, so going was super exciting. Even though it did start to rain at one point. But standing out in the cold rain was totally worth it! – so was getting beer spilled on me thanks to the drunk girls next to me…

Other than that, two other super exciting things happened this month. – First things first, I got a job! Like, an honest to goodness job! It took forever to get here, but I’m super glad I finally found one. Thanks to my loving boyfriend, I work at a party supply store! I spend most of my days filling balloons and orders for them. Currently, we’re switching out everything for Autumn! – I did spot a Christmas plate though. It is only September people..!

On blogging news, I switched to self-hosted! That’s right, I took the big plunge! I’m now officially pastelbottlerocket.com! It’s been quite a transition and, to be frank, I don’t really have any idea about what I’m doing. I’m just trying my best! I thinking about starting up a newsletter; I’ve heard that’s a good thing to do. Although I can’t get my site to work properly on Chrome. I’ve checked a dozen times on FireFox, Edge, and Internet Explorer – every time I try it works. But on Chrome, it’s more 70:30 on whether or not it decides to work. 70% of the time it doesn’t. Anybody have any suggestions?

The blog also hit 1200 followers in August! That’s such a crazy number! I’m so thankful for each and every one of you who tunes in every Monday and Friday to read my stuff! I know I’ve been slacking lately, and my posts haven’t exactly been up to par. – Or on time (I try and post at 11).

But I promise to change that!

School started this week, so I’ve been a little frazzled. But I’m going to try and figure out a good schedule between school and work to work on my blog! One day, I want this to be my job, so I gotta work hard now! Also got to figure out more quality content than what I write!

Anyway – so yeah! Although August was a little quieter, a lot of big things happened this month!

I can’t thank everyone enough for sticking around this long! I never thought I’d get to this point, and I’m eternally grateful for everyone!

Happy Blogtember!

Sun Shower

IMG_20170802_161853.jpg

100 Word Story

I sighed as we drove, all I could do was stare out the window. I was trying to soak it all in. The last views of the town I’d always known.

This was it.

It was actually happening – I was moving for college. I was moving farther away than I knew what to do with. States and States, miles and miles went under our tires. And I guess the universe knew what I needed.

A sun shower is what poured down when we grew near to my new home. A sun shower was how I felt.

Excited yet Sad.

Essentials Every College Student Needs!

Essentials_Title.jpg

Going to college is a lot different than high school. High school you have six folders, four binders, and a two textbooks that you have to carry with you everyday. But in college you may need one textbook for one class, but just a spiral for another. And you don’t have class everyday, which is amazing.

Everybody does college differently. Some prefer it all electronic, keeping all of their notes and dates in their phone/laptop/tablet. But I’d prefer to just write everything down the good old fashion way! No matter how you do it, there are a few essential things that you’ll always want to carry with you. – On top of your ever faithful backpack!

Planner/Bullet Journal/Organizer

91MsYGp1JXL._SL1500_.jpg

I just started using one of these this past school year, and it has been the most helpful thing. You can keep track of quizzes, homework, tests – everything to keep your schedule straight. Making sure you’re tagging those deadlines will save your butt. You’re going to want to make sure you write it down in class, as the teacher says it. This way, you don’t second guess yourself later. Also, you can show classmates if they didn’t note it!

If you keep track of things in your phone, or other electronic device, you can disregard this!

Plenty of Pens

51zIWG1N1rL.jpg

Pens, pens, pens – you never know when you’re going to need one. Maybe you write down all your notes in pencil. But I guarantee that, at least, one person will forget something to write with. Help save their day!

Highlighters

91E-mHoLvfL._SX425_.jpg

Highlighters are good for noting important things on handouts. Have something the professor wants emphasis on? Highlight it. Is that due date hiding? Highlight it. Get bored? Highlight the whole freaking paper (I don’t encourage this, lol).

Folder

81W7f7x4yEL._SL1500_.jpg

A good old fashion folder is good to have. Every class usually gives you, at least, one paper. Not everyday, but some teachers will give you things. Have a folder around in case they do. That way you don’t lose it, or have to shove it in a book, or fold it to put it in your pocket!

Sticky Notes

81kbu+0AZcL._SX425_.jpg

Sticky notes are good for English classes, mostly. This allows you to follow along and jot down notes to stick in the book. But they’re good for other things too! Like writing a note to your professor. Or a reminder to stick in front of your folder or textbook!

College can be difficult, but there are ways to make it easier. And I’ve found these things to be very useful through my three years! Hopefully thy will be to you as well!

What are essentials in your bag?

School Morning Playlist!

School_Morning_Title

School mornings are some of the slowest. Sometimes you just don’t want to go. Sometimes, you don’t have your homework done. Some days it’s just miserable outside and you don’t want to drive. But you know you have to anyway. I have a lot of those mornings. On those days, nothing gets me motivated like music.

Music makes my morning drives go so much faster. Music is my get up and go when the coffee isn’t working. There’s nothing like some tunes on the ride to school. A little singing, a little dancing, a little drumming along while sitting in traffic.

For me, though, I have to have really upbeat songs. Having slowly or soft ones just makes me want to sleep. That’s not good when you’re driving, and don’t want to be out anyway.

This is my School Morning Playlist!

  1. Drugs & Candy – All Time Low

  2. Here’s to Never Growing Up – Avril Lavigne

  3. Jet Black Heart – 5 Seconds of Summer

  4. Eleanor Rigby – The Beatles

  5. Rhinestone Eyes – Gorillaz

  6. Galway Girl – Ed Sheeran

  7. Victorious – Panic! At The Disco

  8. Plastic Promises – Set It Off

  9. Closer  – The Chainsmokers, Halsey

  10. Kill Your Heroes – AWOLNATION

Nothing gets my blood pumping more than music. Although my taste is all over the place, these are songs that I think are fun to rock to. Song that get me up and going on slow school mornings. Hell, these songs get and up to go on non-school mornings. Sometimes, you just need music to help give your a little nudge.

But not everyone has the same taste in music. What’s your favourite get up and go songs? Who is your go-to artist?

Other Playlists:

Rainy Day Tunes

Summer 2017 Beach Playlist

#DontStayInSchool

dontstayinschool_title.jpg

For those of you who just see the title, and think I’m advocating for kids not to go to school. – That is very far from what I’m here for. With this being school month here on the blog, I thought I’d share a video I found a while ago. I think this is a very important video.

You can watch it HERE

School is full of subjects that kids really don’t need. Or subjects that they don’t need more than the basics of. Why do I need to go all the way to Trig, when basic math is literally all I need? Why do I need to dissect a fish or a baby pig? I know how my cells work, how reproduction is done, what causes cancer and, why the seasons change. Why do I need to learn more?

What is the point of learning these, if they’re not at all applicable to the child’s everyday life?

School doesn’t prepare kids for the real world on any level. People say that parents are supposed to do that. But what if they don’t know how, or what if they’re not around? What about all those people who are orphans, or that their parents are dead and they’re living with another relative?

Home Ec used to be taught as a mandatory class in high school and middle school. My parents say it was one of the most important classes they took. They learned to sew and some of how to cook. I think it’s a tragedy that this was taken out of the curriculum. Kids really need a class like that.

People are going to college unable to clean or cook or budget. Like the video says, we’re not taught how to get jobs or any amount of practical things in school. Kids spend more time there than at home, and at home they’re doing homework. Their parents are just getting home, they don’t want to have to teach their kid to cook after a long day.

We’re taught a bunch of pointless things. But nothing of what we need. I know we need to know history to stop it from repeating (although, by the political climate and current goings on, we’re very much about to). It’s important to learn to read, write, and do math – but is it really necessary to learn more than basics? If you want to go into a field that needs it, sure, knock yourself out. I, though, had no want or need for any extra.

Even in college you have to take “college level” math and such. I get why English is important (although not why all the essays are), so they can make sure that you can read and write on an ‘adult’ level. But more math and science? Why did I have to take Psychology or Biology? I wanted nothing to do with either of those. But I was required to do them anyway.

The video better expresses these feelings than I can. It’s definitely worth giving a watch and thinking some about.

What do you think of the video?

Thanks for Reading!
